BLUEBELL RAILWAY

Sussex is latticed with old steam-train lines. This industrial-age infrastructure serves as a time capsule to the 1896 Light Railways Act, and you can be transported there yourself on the Bluebell Railway.

Watch the countryside roll by in retro carriages, with options to upgrade to secluded, plusher compartments in first class. These classic steam trains run between Sheffield Park, Horsted Keynes, Kingscote and East Grinstead Station, weaving through their namesake’s bluebell woods.

Walk through the Kentish countryside parallel to the train line, or stop off at different stations for the SteamWorks! interactive science exhibition, Bluebell Railway Museum or Carriage and Wagon Workshop. This grand day out has it all: playgrounds and activities for the little ones, dining options for food, woodland walks, and of course, a multitude of gift shops.
